In Frankfurt, Fedegari Group will present prototypes that integrate sterilization and handling in aseptic processes neutralizing the risks of human contamination.
From 11 to 15 June Fedegari will be in Achema – the leading trade fair for the chemical and biotechnological industry – with the main innovations in robotics, industry 4.0 and IoT in the field of sterilization and contamination control for the pharmaceutical industry. Fedegari Group is a hi-tech company, a world-leading player for the pharmaceutical industry in the field of sterilization and solutions for the control of environmental contamination. Founded in the early 50s in Pavia by the Fedegari family, still leading the company, it is present on a global scale in 100 countries with 500 people and a turnover of over 65 million euro, 90% of which comes from abroad.
Cost-effective production of sterile drugs
Fedegari Group, selected by ItalyPost among the 500 most performing SMEs in the period 2010-2016, will surprise the world Life Science market with 2 prototypes of machines that aim to optimize the production of sterile drugs. With these two models, Fedegari intends to demonstrate that integrated solutions with process machines and robots can significantly contribute to the production of qualitatively better drugs at increasingly accessible operating costs.
These solutions can bring significant advantages at a time when science is developing increasingly innovative, but sometimes economically inaccessible, medicines. More specifically, the first prototype presented by Fedegari integrates a washer-sterilizer with a totally robotized isolator and incorporates all the company\’s technologies in the field of sterilization processes: from sterilization to chemical bio-decontamination, washing, isolation and robotized handling. This technological demonstrator reveals how the combination of the two machines and the use of a special robot allow to improve the quality of the product with a lower overall management cost compared to other semi-automatic solutions.
Fedegari will also present at Achema the latest developments within the IoT applied to Thema4, the process controller developed in-house by Fedegari able to manage all the machines produced by the Group, ensuring total integration between them. Through the apps available on a cloud it is possible to improve work control by sharing information with Fedegari. The supplier can thus ensure a more efficient and reliable operation of machines and processes that are becoming increasingly complex every day.
On Wednesday, June 13th Fedegari stand will host the”Viaggio in Italia” exhibition by the Italian photographer Gio Martorana. The event will be accompanied by a special menu of the chef Bruno Cingolani and sparkling wine produced by Fedegari brothers in collaboration with the oenologist Carlo Casavecchia, a Cuvèe Premium with a maturation of 60 months on the yeast.
This is a moment of great opportunities for the bio/pharmaceutical world and for the advancement of many technologies. Apart from the direct activities connected with inspections and reports on the results of foreign manufacturing inspections, representatives of the Russian GMP Inspectorate are involved as the expert organization engaged by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation in the GMP inspections of Russian Manufacturers. They actively participate in discussions and deliberations on improving the system of state regulation of drugs circulation, as well as organizing joint training programs for inspectors and representatives of the pharmaceutical industry of Russia and the countries of EAEU.\

The second prototype is a solution designed and developed by Fedegari with the aim of increasing efficiency in treatments and in the transfer of sterile pharmaceutical closures ready for use. The system presented at Achema, in fact, uses a robotic arm that, by connecting to a drug filling line, allows the aseptic transfer of washed and sterilized closures, neutralizing any risk of contamination.
These solutions, born in the Tech Center of Fedegari, which produces high-tech machinery on order, are the result of the Group’s ongoing investments in Research and Development, equal to about 10 million in the last two years. Giuseppe Fedegari, President of Fedegari Group, explained: “These prototypes offer a different perspective in the synergies between the pharmaceutical industry and process machine manufacturers. Through a closer collaboration it is possible to develop integrated solutions that reduce the risks of unforeseen events, often due to the use of machines, which are not integrated and different by brand and management system.
Russian GMP Inspectorate Federal State Institute of Drugs and Good Practices
Fedegari is pleased to host in its booth at Achema 2018 representatives from the Federal State Institute of Drugs and Good Practices. Mr. Vladislav Shestakov, Director of Federal State Institute, will be present at Fedegari booth from June 13th to 15th.The presence of FSI representatives at Achema is the result of a partnership started on September 2017 when Fedegari and FSI signed a Memorandum on Cooperation for the development of a training program of the Russian inspectors and operators in the field of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. Fedegari is proud to be partnering with FSI for the development of such an ambitious project and will share its experience in running its various Tech Centers in Italy, in the US and the latest one in Singapore (yet to be completed) where several regulatory bodies have already sent their inspectors to be trained.
